Dress Obsessed

I came across this gem of a boutique online called Pink Blush that carries trendy pieces and closet staples. They have super cute dresses for women of all sizes! I love that they carry plus and maternity in addition to women’s.

This trapeze dress I found has been perfect to transition from cold to hot here in LA. It’s been feeling like summer lately, amirite? The length is perfect for the hot weather and the sleeves are great for when it gets colder at night. Check out how I styled it in my pics! Pointy shoes goes well because it elongates your silhouette and throwing a bomber or Moto jacket over your shoulders adds a bit of edge. Then when the temps drop again, throw on some thigh high boots. Yas queen. Plus the mock neck is super on-trend.

Bodysuit Bae

Meet your new closet staple – the bodysuit. I have recently fallen in love with this layering piece and bought my first one here from Forever 21. It looks so cute with high-waisted denim, which flatters your waist as well. Really anything high-waisted would work well with a bodysuit. I definitely see myself rocking them with denim cut-offs and skirts come Spring/Summer. This one caught my eye because of the off-the-shoulder silhouette – super classy yet sexy. (You’ll be seeing a lot of this trend throughout the year as well!) It’s so comfy and major plus: it has a buttoned placket at the bottom so no need to take off your entire top and have your ta-tas out in the bathroom stall. That honestly was a huge reason I didn’t buy bodysuits before, but I’m starting to see more brands catch on to this necessary design aspect. Meaning more bodysuits in my closet :)

What I’m wearing:
Bodysuit: Forever 21. This one is sold out but other faves here & here
Jeans: Forever 21
Mules – Mossimo Target sold out too, but similar ones here & here
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

New Year Steez

New year, new [insert goal here]. We’re already a month into 2016 guys! My 2015 was filled with extreme highs and extreme lows, but I grew so much from it that I wouldn’t have traded it for any other experience. For 2016 I’ve set some goals and intentions to make the most out of my time no matter what life throws at me:

  1. Become BFFs with LA – 2015 was my first full year here in LA away from my comfort zone of San Francisco. When I first moved here I heard from multiple people that you’ll hate the first year and half, then fall in love. Hard. Fortunately for me, I’ve hit that year and half mark. And LA you’re melting my heart like s’mores on a beach bonfire. I’ve begun to find all the nooks and crannies that LA has to offer from local happenings to foodie havens. The musical offerings of LA blow my mind. You could literally see an artist of every genre every weekend here if you wanted to. Last year I saw two of my all time inspiring musical artists here – Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu. Like bucket list status. AND I saw The Weeknd from the breathtaking 5th row. They left me speechless and somehow with more love appreciation of their musical talents. This year I’m going to take advantage of all LA has to offer.
  2. Love my body – with all the environmental stressors around us (pollution, radiation, pesticides, global warming, etc.) our bodies are absorbing everything like a sponge through the air and food. To keep myself healthy for the future, I’m committing myself to take care of my body by eating organic whenever possible and exercising on a regular basis. Not as a temporary fad but as a lifestyle change. Of course there will be times when In N’ Out is the only cure for my hunger when Aunt Flow comes to visit, but aside from that, a balanced diet and exercise will be my steez.
  3. Creative vibes only – Practically living in the dye lab, sewing lab, darkroom, print shop, and sculpture yard in college was a normal happening for me and I miss it like a girl misses her long hair after getting a pixie cut. This year I’m getting into a routine of committing at least 2 hours out of the week to a creative project of any kind. Whether it be sketching, writing, dyeing, etc. I’m going to make the time for this creative outlet.

I’m excited to share all of this here on my blog and use this as another avenue of my creative expression. What are your goals or 2016? How are you motivating yourself to stick them? Comment below!

Love Always,

Mary
